States of the Art - A Festival of Film

This year's inaugural "States of the Art" Film Festival is a collaborative effort between, The IMAX theater at the Indiana State Museum, The Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University in Indianapolis, WoodWorks Films, and My First Bike Productions.

States of the Art, a Festival of Film will showcase and encourage film, video, and animation projects of all genres and lengths by selecting one project from each of the fifty United States for competition.

It will “level the playing field” for the independent and microcinema filmmakers, by educating, influencing, and inspiring, while enabling the Artists, not arbitrary judges, to decide which are the “States of the Art”.

Working with State Film Commissions, "States" will allow filmmakers of all levels to expand beyond their personal borders and invite them to new artistic environments.

Through displays, competition in various fields, classes and clinics from professionals working in the entertainment industry, "States" will educate, influence, and inspire.

The competition portions will be placed in the hands of the filmmakers by allowing each qualifying artist one vote, thereby allowing the artists, and not arbitrary judges, to decided what are the “States of the Art".
